Why IDC Gili Islands with Oceans 5?

[caption id="attachment_2091" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]PADI IDC Gili Air with Oceans 5 dive resort PADI IDC Gili Air with Oceans 5 dive resort [/caption] I just been certified as an OWSI/MSDT thanks to Camille, on Gilli Air, Oceans 5. We were all from a different background, about 6 of us, and during the IDC, Camille, our Course Director, managed to make it easy and fun, showing patience and dutch humor as well as lots of knowledge. None of us spoke English as their native language, but we manage to understand and passed the IE with confidence (The 6 of us did) counting the fact that we're coming from very different horizons. IE can seem impressive and stressful, but He taught us with interactivity on a comfortable way, made us feeling involved understanding the PADI teaching system. I'm very grateful I've learned with Camille, and couldn't expect better from a Course Director that allowed us to believe in ourselves, to begin on a solid base, starting our PADI instructor career with confidence. Franck Chevrolat, France, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia I wish to express my gratitude to Camille Lemmens, PADI Course Director. I recently took my IDC with Camille in preparation for my IE. I want to let you now that the course was tough, hard work, but also interesting, informative, widened my diving knowledge but above all fun. Camille is a very good teacher and was able and capable of answering all questions as well as prepare me and the others for the IE. I would highly recommend Camille to others. 'Professor' David Traversa, Italy, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia "From what we get, we make a living. From what we give, we make a life". And with this attitude Camille prepared us (me and 5 boys!) during the IDC in October 2013, on Gili Air at Oceans 5. Excited as I was at day one, more comfortable I was on day 2, looking forward to day 3, learning interesting facts about your passion on day 4, feeling more and more confidence about Physics and stuff on day 5, having fun with my boys in the pool at day 6, having a Bintang with the group on day 7, feeling sad that it all almost comes to an end at day 8... and being supported during the IE at day 9 & 10 by Camille. I feel lucky. I learned a lot and had fun. Most important aspect of all is that I felt comfortable, which increases the ability to learn. An aspect that I will take with me as a Padi dive instructor! Thanks! Michelle Gina Heeringa, the Netherlands, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indon

PADI IDC Gili Islands

The first day of the PADI IDC Gili Islands was the orientation day. Oceans 5 dive resort has only one candidate but it is a bit more challenging this is an Indonesian one, her name is Miyah. But Oceans 5 dive resort is lucky, at this moment we have 9 divemaster trainees that can help PADI Course Director Sander Buis out and smell a bit of an IDC. Sander explained first all the skills on a whiteboard, and told them there is not only one way to perform a skill. He loves to see that even the divemaster trainees become more flexible and adjust themselves to what kind of students they have. The second day started with classroom presentations of Sander. And in the beginning of the afternoon another skill circuit with some rescue practicing, exercise number 7. This is one of the most important skill during the dive education, you will practice it during your rescue course, divemaster course, instructor development course and finally during the instructor examination. In the late afternoon Sander started teaching physics to the IDC candidate and some local divemaster trainees. At 17.30 the day was over.... There was a night dive and Miyah went home to prepare her classroom presentation. For more information write us an email at info@oceans5dive.com

PADI IDC Gili Islands Indonesia Day 3

Do you like classroom presentations? I don't think so. People become nervous, start sweating, forgetting words, the context etc.... During the IDC Gili Islands at Oceans 5 dive resort the candidates are practicing 4 classroom presentations, an Open water Diver Presentation, An Rescue Diver Presentation, A Divemaster Presentation and a Project Aware Presentation. And if there is extra time we are practicing Adventure Diver Presentations. Today Miyah starts with their exams, dive theory. We will see how it goes, but I think everything will be ok , after 2 nights of physics lectures. Course Director Sander loves to teach physics. He is not the one who is using the formulas but explain in easy terms the basic concepts. Einstein told him one time "you only understand difficult things when you can explain it in a easy way". Don't hide yourself behind formulas, it all about diving concepts. Same when it comes to equipment, if you don't show the equipment, foe example how a regulator works people never understands the concept. After the exams there will be some classroom presentations. Padi Course Director Sander Buis will do 2 of them and Miyah will have a rescue diver presentation. In the afternoon Miyah will have her first confined water presentation in the pool. We have 5 students for her, so she will see a lot of mistakes. Padi Course Director Sander will demonstrate 2 presentations by himself. And the students can make their own problems. So we have some little bit of fun. Indonesian IDC

Indonesian IDC Oceans 5 dive resort has still 2 Indonesian candidates that are doing an IDC, or PADI Instructor Development Course over a couple of weeks. We have Miyah and Emy. Today we go over the General Standards and procedures again. So the candidates just have to take their PADI Instructor Manual and Guide to Teaching. They have to make notes when PADI Course Director Sander Buis is giving the classroom presentation. PADI IDC Gili Islands with Oceans 5 dive resort In the afternoon all are going out for a fun dive. Fun diving around the Gili Islands is very nice, you can see everything what you like. If you didn't hear it already: Oceans 5 dive resort want to become more professional. Oceans 5 dive resort would give the candidates the quality for what they paid for. Especially for doing an IDC. During an IDC you will be normally between 8-10 days in a classroom. Why should you want to sit in a little classroom without an AC, with out a proper screening, a places for locking your stuff? Oceans 5 is thinking about the future. In 3 months Oceans 5 will have a 7 by 10 meter classroom with all the modern needs for a perfect IDC. In the future there will be a own IDC trainings pool too. But fist the classroom.
