Massive reef clean up at Gili Air

The weekly reef clean up at Gili Air was there. Oceans 5 dive resort and their divemaster trainees organized a massive one. In totally 21 divers and 4 people who cleaned the beach. All the 6 divemaster trainees did an excellent job to organize it and make it save and joinable for everyone. At 4 o'clock the preparation started, making the briefing on a white board, showing the map of the dive site, organizing teams, giving everyone gloves and back and sorting out the equipment. The island hopper, a boat that goes between Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan, has just been back. And all the fast boats were gone. It was safe to go into the water with a group of people like this. Mostly the divers found bottles, plastic, ropes, cans and more. It was a massive result, but there is still more work to do. Oceans 5 hopes to see you all next week! Arash did it.

Yesterday he became a PADI Instructor. It was a long way Arah started last year as a SSI instructor in Amed, Bali. But he wanted to become a PADI Instructor too.

Last January he arrived in Oceans 5 to start his IDC with PADI Course Directors Camille Lemens and Sander Buis. He was a bit unlucky of his last 2 days of the IDC. He became ill. The result is there Arash is the first PADI Instructor when dive resort Oceans 5 became a PADI Career Development Center, CDC.

Deep Diver Specialty Instructor Training Gili Islands

In addition to becoming an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you will want to earn some Specialty Instructor ratings so that you can offer a variety of training to your student divers. Specialty Instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of the course. Attending Specialty Instructor Training courses is also a good way to extend your knowledge and skills base as a professional diver and will prepare you fully to start teaching Advanced Open Water courses. Having five specialty instructor ratings is a prerequisite for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating. Oceans 5 dive resort has conducted the last 2 days a Deep Diver Instructor Training Program Gili Islands at Simons Reef and Sunset Reef. Simons Reef is famous for the beautiful coral and the 40 meters depth. Sunset Reef is famous for the baby sharks. During the training PADI Course Director Sander Buis taught the candidates all the skills of the Deep Diver Specialty Course. The course is serious but also fun, so during the 8 min safety stop all candidates are playing some music instruments underwater, like a band.
